About

Grobman Architects was founded in 1999 by architect Prof. Yasha J. Grobman.


Architect Prof. Yasha (Jacob) Grobman is an architect and researcher. He graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem and holds a Master of Architecture from the Design Research Laboratory in the Architectural Association (AA) in London and a PhD from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology. He has been a postdoctoral fellow in Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). Prof. Grobman has taught architecture design and theory and lectured in the USA, Israel, Switzerland and China. His research concentrates on computational design for the design and fabrication of sustainable and innovative architecture.

Awards

2021

Hershel Rich Technion Innovation Award 2021. Given for the Mycelium and Nanocellulose Bio-Nanocomposite Materials research (Together with PhD student Noam Attias and Prof. Ezri Tarazi).

2020

Jacobs Award for the Technion’s Best Paper of 20 20 (given to Noam Attias, a PhD candidate under my supervision for a paper we co-authored, which presents her PhD research). Technion’s distinguish lecturer award (top 4%) for winter 20 20 semester.

2019

International WAN Facade Award 2016 – Honorable mention for the Porter School of Environmental Studies Design.

2014

First prize in the 2014 annual award by the Israel Builders Association for the best public building of 2014 (Porter School of Environmental Studies).
Technion’s distinguish lecturer award (top 4%) for winter 2014 semester.

2013

Best project award in the Ecologic Public buildings category for the design of the Porter School of Environmental Studies.  In Sustainable Architectural Design conference n.4: Sustainable Synergy: Buildings, Environment and Society. Sandberg grant for research and development for the best research project of 2002-2003. The award was given for the results of the initial stages of the research on digital architecture, which were accomplished within the frame of the PhD research. Jury chaired by Prof. Michael Levin
